We go to the clinic. Can fill your stomach with foods or drench your thirst with drinks? Yes you can and only can find in Clinic Cafe, Gurney Plaza. Ok some of you may think it is inappropriate and gross based on interior and the way they serving their foods and beverages, for me it is totally cool and hippy kind to lure youngster to try something new. My parents think it was gross though.<div><br /></div><div>The interior designs with nurses, surgical and doctor apparatus, few education on human body as posters and tom&jerry on their lcd screen (ok it does not suit the theme though).</div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/58f8a52d.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div><div><br /></div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/eedb76f6.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div><div><br /></div><div>Group photos!!</div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/ecfb1195.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div><div><br /></div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/912c33db.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div><div><br /></div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/5562c9c4.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div><div style="text-align: center;">My bad, I'm too hungry to test their foods</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><center><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/568cd5a4.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></center></div>KenChiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07868949758899454308noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8731049745751802054.post-81789476590928354562010-10-12T00:00:00.001+08:002010-10-12T00:00:01.354+08:00Coconut milk shake at Klebang MelakaFelt like melting in a hot sunny in Melaka as always. Take sip or two of coconut milk shake special, blend with coconut milk and its flesh in grain size top with vanilla ice-cream temp to cool you down in this hot and humid weather. The place is full during lunch hour. I drank two ^^<div><br /></div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/caced9ef.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div>KenChiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07868949758899454308noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8731049745751802054.post-54748644963048988122010-10-11T00:00:00.000+08:002010-10-11T00:00:02.660+08:00Amazingly delicious Penang foods and beveragesOk travelling around Penang beside living and enjoying it historical sites, food are the most important because you know why? It is because when you are travelling around Malaysia minus Penang, you see stall names like "famous" Penang fried kuay teow (rice-cake strips), "famous" Penang har mee (shrimps noodles) or "famous" Penang Laksa printed on their menus or stall names and you will have this feeling like "gosh! one day I will go to Penang and taste those foods". Thanks to airasia "now anyone can fly" going to Penang make so easy. Here is the problem when you reach Penang, does not mean you will eat the best taste in Penang famous delicacies. The food there are so famous like Satay in Kajang, you will see "famous" word printed all around the stall, confusing the tourists. I noticed another thing about there, the best taste foods did not sell their foods through the word "famous" it is a real deal when taste it your mouth. <div><br /></div><div>Cendol</div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/a3a216c0.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div><div><br /></div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/515d80fa.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div><div><br /></div><div>Penang fried kuay teow (rice-cake strips)</div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/a72292a2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div><div style="text-align: center;">This ah pek damn old school using charcoal to fry</div><div><br /></div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/7fd6f91b.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div><div style="text-align: center;">Ah peh frying on Siam Road</div><div><br /></div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/ba555496.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div><div style="text-align: center;">Best char kuay teow I ever had!!</div><div><br /></div><div>Penang har mee (shrimps noodles)</div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/7d80c9d8.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div><div><br /></div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/5bf80262.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div><div><br /></div><div>Penang Laksa</div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/6e873def.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div><div><br /></div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/e1b7f208.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div><div><br /></div><div>I myself drooling. One building serves as the ancestral temple while the other is used for staging plays and operas. It is situated at Lebuh Cannon, nice street name though. Another reason I like Penang is they still remain the original name of their streets unlike Melaka.<div><br /><div>Outside of the Khoo Kongsi</div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/70357bf5.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div><div style="text-align: center;">Opera Stage</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><center><a href="http://s38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/?action=view&current=24823be9.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/24823be9.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/84b2ccf3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div></div><div><div><br /></div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/468210db.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div></div><div><br /></div><div>Alter area</div><div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/509eeb81.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div></div><div><br /></div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/f255ed24.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div><div><br /></div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/af7033af.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div><div style="text-align: center;">Group photo!!</div><div><br /></div><div>Kitchen area<br /> <div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/9f84c5f4.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div></div><div><br /></div><div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/2b88be78.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div></div><div><br /></div><div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/2666f1da.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div></div><div><br /></div></div>KenChiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07868949758899454308noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8731049745751802054.post-87664983106069814722010-10-10T00:00:00.000+08:002010-10-10T00:00:02.761+08:00Worshipping at Kuan Yin (Goddess of Mercy) Temple, Jalan Kapitan Keling<span class="Apple-style-span"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Like Melaka, Penang is one the UNESCO sight category world heritage. Kuan Yin was a being who had actually attained Nirvana but stayed behind to save those souls who did not escaped the world of suffering.<br /><br />The temple is also dedicated to Ma Chor Poh, the virgin goddess of mercy and saint to sea voyagers. The high roof of the main hall is supported by dragon-entwined pillars carved from a type of green stone. The statue of Kuan Yin as a serenely composed woman with 18 arms sits on an inner chamber.</span><br /></span></span></span></span></div></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 15px; "><span class="Apple-style-span"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Tahoma, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></span></span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 15px; "><span class="Apple-style-span"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Tahoma, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial; "><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/99163c64.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></span></span></span></span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 15px; "><span class="Apple-style-span"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Tahoma, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial; "><br /></span></span></span></span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 15px; font-size: small;"><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/f170d1a3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 15px; font-size: small;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 15px; font-size: small;"><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/67f21060.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 15px; font-size: small;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 15px; font-size: small;">Time for a group photo before our next activities.</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 15px; font-size: small;"><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/10223fbe.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></span></span></div>KenChiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07868949758899454308noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8731049745751802054.post-2787916382281614662010-10-09T20:00:00.002+08:002010-10-10T00:41:44.632+08:00Breakfast at 王昭君(Wong Chau Jun) Restaurant<span class="Apple-style-span"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">It was a hot and sunny day in Penang. I've never been to <a href="http://www.tourismpenang.net.my/">Penang</a> before hence I was psych about everything. On many previous attempt to go there have failed to transportation, wrong timing etc etc etc. This time we managed to booked a flight from <a href="http://www.airasia.com/my/en/home.html">AirAisa</a> at a short period of tim<span class="Apple-style-span">e with reasonable price due to a promotion. Credit to my Penang friends for planning all this trip for </span>us.<div><br /></div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/9060f80b.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div><div style="text-align: center;">Our flight ticket via kiosk</div><div><br /></div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/f800b3b3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div><div style="text-align: center;">Our flight on the digital board still like the analog type</div><div><br /></div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/3cec3630.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div><div style="text-align: center;">Before departure</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><span class="Apple-style-span"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">It was a short flight though. On the arrival, we headed </span></span></span><span class="Apple-style-span"><span class="Apple-style-span"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">to </span></span></span><span class="Apple-style-span"><span class="Apple-style-span"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Queensbay Mall. More about that in later post. After walking around the mall, we went to Gurney Drive to have our dinner.</span></span></span></div><div><br /></div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/70ee39da.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div><div style="text-align: center;">View of Gurney Drive</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">There are two things I notice in my first few hour in Penang, first wherever you park, there are parking "guardians" in-charge in every parking space you can think off giving you parking ticket.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/3444e693.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Some places still using parking meter whereas Melaka uses "scratch and win" method. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Secondly, if you go places like food court in Gurney Drive, you see lots "famous" word imprinted in front of their stall. It is kinda confusing to choose famous char kuay teow when you see it all around you. Thanks to local guidance we got a better advice in narrowing our choices.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/87d57847.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div>KenChiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07868949758899454308noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8731049745751802054.post-53298160272949662422010-10-07T00:08:00.000+08:002010-10-07T00:08:00.406+08:00My training life<div style="text-align: left;">The life having my internship at <a href="http://www.infineon.com/cms/en/product/index.html">Infineon Technologies</a> in Melaka was swelled. I get to learned how to adapt to working environment that cannot be gained from the inside of lecture hall.</div><div><br /></div><div style="">From my <a href="http://www.thekenchia.com/2010/06/my-training-starts.html">previous post</a> described about my job scope, I really learned alot about FA and IPI each day prior with the attitude of living curious. At first, I was scared in perfor</div><div>ming the task given by my two supervisors but the with support of them and other employees from that department, I was able to gained my confidence. Moreover, the employees in my department or lab are much smaller, we were able to create stronger bond with more individuals. Though it was ended a month ago, I still get use to the healthy lifestyle when I was working there. Well there a place can fill your stomach for lunch time...<div>This Chinese restaurant situated on the corner of Jalan Tukang Besi or Harmony Street. Along the street you can find blacksmith making cooking utensils most of time or maybe weapons . Those blacksmith skills are pass on from their forefather to their son and I guess there are only very few blacksmith with olden days style of forging the metal. Still don't know the place? It is near Emeral Cheng Ho's Museum, just walk down the road and you'll see a restaurant. Ok! let back to the food.</div><div>This type of fried oyster I once ate this before in Setiawan, Perak, I guess this is the only place in Melaka I can find this kind of friend oyster.</div><div><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/207520d6.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div><div style="text-align: center;">Fried Oyster</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Here comes the MeeSua Oyster with pork intestine. Frankly speaking, I'm not a fan of meesua neither do meehoon and definitely not pork intestine. So, this is "no" for me. But some of my friends love eat and think most you out there love this kind of foods too.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><center><a><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e135/kenfucius88/1f5cdf95.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></center></div><div style="text-align: center;">MeeSua Oyster with pork intestine</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Overall, I'm kinda of disappointed with the oyster because it is too small. Thai Lanna was a civilized Kingdom that existed during the 18th - 20th B.E. Centuries in the area of present-day Northern Thailand. King Mengrai was the king who founded the capital and the dynasty. He accomplished and contributed to the prosperity of the kingdom in several aspects especially in political science, Buddhist religion, art and culture. There are several traditions that eventually became northern heritage one of which is Khantoke. Even today khantoke implies dinner or lunch which is offered by a host to guests at various ceremonies or parties, example in the home or weddings, housewarmings, celebrations, novice ordinations, life extensions or funerals.
